Argentines doing what they do best, protest everything! This was some of the Indigenous people's protest of the bicentenary program...or so I think. That's another thing. It's never clear exactly what the people are protesting. Oh well...

Its been a while but here it is!

Thanks be to God again for keeping me through another week in the middle of NOWHERE! lol It was the greatest time ever.

Before we get to the trip I must say that being 21 is not all its hyped up to be. I just knew by time I hit 21 I'd have it all figured out and I'd be this big time adult...not so at all. It's the same thing as being 20 only I am closer to 30 and we all know what happens at 30...lol I have been enjoying myself though and have started these daily readings of the Bible and by time 22 comes around I would have read the Bible cover to cover. Hopefully, that'll get me some answers ;)

On to the trip! Absolutely amazing! As you can see I enjoyed myself quite thoroughly. We went to Iberá en Misiones, Argentina. It is the most rural of the rural. To get there from Buenos Aires was a 10 hour bus ride, followed be a fleet of pick up trucks that took us another 2.5 hours into the middle of nowhere. The roads reminded me of Africa. When we arrived though it was all worth it. The place was really nice and comfortable and we were completely relaxed from the time we arrived until we left.

What did we do? The most unexpected things ever! lol There was a lot of soccer, fishing, herding cattle, branding cattle, lassoing and wrestle cattle, hikes through the jungle, monkey watching, boat rides, concerts, and of course a lot of sleeping. Never in a million years would I have ever thought that I would have the opportunity ride horses across wild terrain for 2.5 hours (and I mean really ride!), arrive at an estancia and wrestle cows, have a sack race (sorry I have no pics of that), take boat rides all in crazy swamps with all types of crazy animals, its just a lot and I'm so thankful to God for the opportunity to be able to do these things.

Aside from the location and activities during the trip, the people, other students and IES staff, were the absolute best! We all enjoyed each other the entire time. There were so many laughs and fond memories as well as new friendships formed and old ones strengthened. Again as always its one of those "had to be there" type experiences. But hopefully some of these pics can convey at least a bit of what this trip was like. I feel bad because I didn't take many photos this trip. I guess I was too busy enjoying myself. But, I had friends who did take a lot so thanks Daniell...A, Megan, Ryan, Jackie, and of course Alibe (number 17) ;)

Thanks again for reading folks. I appreciate the support and the comments. They are the highlight of my life. lol Welcome Uncle Paul and Angie. And just so you all know, when I get back I have to come over because breakfast here is toast and tea or coffee. You know what that means Angie! ;) lol

Oh and a funny story. So I guess I think I'm Superman or something. I was crossing 9 de Julio, a big highway I have to cross to get to IES. I had the light and all and then this crazy guy is turning speeding though the street and is less than a foot away from hitting me. So guess what I'm doing as the car is approaching...that's right I'm balling up my fist trying to punch the friggin windshield! What is the problem here? Please just pray! lol Between that Kevin Sr. and Paul Jr. I didn't stand a chance. ;)

Chau hasta la próxima vez. Besos!!!

Just remembered. Midterms went well. I had an issue with one grade in a class and I talked with the professor after class and he treated me to a coffee and improved or rather fixed my grade. So all is well. I think that's everything.

  1. Wow!!!! Kevin Jr. your pics are amazing, I mean I love all of them, watching you handle those cattles was awesome, at first I didn't realize it was you, but after looking at them again I was like that's just like you, so adventurous, daring, and not afraid to take risks(I love it!!!)I am glad you didn't eat the testicles though lol.....

You're blogs are so informative and along with the pics it makes me feel like I'm right there with you, those are powerful writing techniques/skills. The place you stayed looked so serene, so peaceful, and you had to go so far to get there but i'm sure it was worth the ride. Seeing you on the horse made me say "my nephew is living the life" and that's alright. God wants us to enjoy life to the fullest and I'm so glad to see you at such a young age experiencing life the way you are because it'll only make you a better man, and a man with life experiences such as your is a most powerful man.

    God have great things for you and I'm sure while you're reading the bible looking for answers God will revealed some very real powerful insights that will help shape you into the Man God want you to be and because of your expereinces you'll be more open to God's guidance. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, I look forward to more blogs, stay safe, have fun, I Love you and i'm very proud of you young man:}

  6. Grandson,
Your pictures and the photographer are awesome. The scenery is stunning and it makes me feel like I'm there with you. You are such an amazing, daring, and challenging young man. When I see you doing all of the following, I thank God for His continue Love and Protection over you: jumping over the mud pit; swimming with those animals; driving the boat; rodeo, horse back riding, etc. You look like a natural champion in each picture and I decided that when I grow up I want to be just like you, so you can teach me how to get a "little taste of Paradise" (Do not LOL).
When you were laying hands on that cow, were you praying? Victory,is right after taking down 2 cows.
I'm glad you did not eat those thangs.
After all that, I'm glad you took time out to rest and I hope it didn't take you 24 hours, (smile).
Continue to read your Bible because I believe God has a mighty work for you to do.
    Much Love, Nana

  9. Hey Urban Cowboy!
I thank God for keeping you and letting you start a life of extraordinary experiences. Operative word, "start." You will be blessed to do even greater things son.
LOL! There's not a manual that comes with 21 that says you will have life figured out by this age. 21 gives you a legal adult right of passage to continue this life long quest for knowledge. The Book of instructions that you have chosen to read will direct the path that God has set for you. I had to stop myself LOL! I felt a moment coming on but we will talk off line, way too much to blog.
When I look at the pictures and read your blog, it takes me far away from the mad routine of the day and takes me to that place where I can see life in a totally different light. I can see riding the horses on the country side as a cowboy, lassoing a cow and knowing me, I would have yanked the lasso, if I got it around the cows neck, and would have been thrown from the horse because yanking the lasso wouldn't instantly stop the cow but throw me off of the horse! Yeah a run on sentence and weird details I know. I got the heat, the dust, and the smells. Oh but no police sirens, no shooting victims, no rush hour traffic! Yeah I like this place. Then at the end of the day where you are, God drops drops a nice sunset over the plain and it's off to that oasis in the middle of nowhere. Whoever built that place where you guys stayed is genious! Well maybe not but he sure had a vision! Even down to the hammock huh Jr.?
Anyway, all is well here. It's so rewarding to have two grown children that are doing great things and having the freedom to travel and have brief but awesome experiences away from home.
    LOL! Shacana is funny!
I'm sure Kadi can really understand your great experience.
    Ttyl, Love You Son.
