This week has been the bomb! Remember the internship interview I had, the one with the cool people, not the stupid jerks that don't know anything? Well, it went super well and now I have an internship at a magazine company for the aid of the homeless and unemployed Hecho en Buenos Aires (Made in Buenos Aires). They work to provide skills training, honest employment, and all types of aid to the homeless and unemployed. I like it a lot and the people there seem honest. However, no one there speaks English!!! So Wednesdays and Fridays I go home with headaches. lol Some days are better than others.
FEET, FEET, FEET, TOE UP IN THE AIR!!!
Also new is my guitar class! I am taking a folk guitar class at IUNA Musicales, a university here equivalent to the Berkley of Argentina. I really wanted the classical class, but it conflicts with my other class times with IES. Its on Fridays from 6 - 10pm, yea...So I definitely go home with headaches on Fridays. lol (like that one Nana?) The Argentine universities are in desperate need of English reform. ¡Si se puede!
This week was my first time at the movies here! It was pretty exciting. They assign you numbers for your seat ¡Que whack! Other than that it was cool though. I didn't travel anywhere this weekend. I went to the park doing the day and chilled with the best picture taking person of all time, whom most of the pics this week came from. Other than that, I stayed in and got some rest. I slept for almost 24 hours. (Nana, again for you. I know you're proud.)
HELLO CHLOE!!! ;)
So back to what I said I'd get back to. You remember from the first paragraph? Yea, well Chacana thought it would be good for me to share this. About 70% of the students in the program have been robbed at some point here. My host family said they've hosted about ten students before me and all of them had been robbed and some multiple times. But, this past week a group of IES students were robbed at gun point and one was pistol whipped on the head and also has a dislocated knee. So it's no joke here. Say that not to alarm but to thank God for His continued keeping and protecting. I know he hears my praying Nana ;)
Besides that, all is well though. Classes are picking up a lot, but I found a pretty chill study spot. It's a book store that used to be a theater. So I go to the box seats and used them as a private study getaway...I know how nerdy right!? Don't judge me. The theater reminded me that I also went to an opera last week. It was Beethoven's Fidelo. Talk about confusing, it was sang in German with Spanish subtitles...the world needs more English!
But the Spanish is coming a long. Some days are better than others, but I'm feeling pretty confident about what I've learned thus far. This just in, Kevin Sr. loves exclamation points...a bit weird, but Im not his judge. That's all for now good folks! Hope you all enjoyed.
I'll leave you all with a joke...
Q: What has 100 arms, one leg, 100 feet, no toes, and a lot of hair?
A: A tree!!!
Want another joke? Sure you do.
HEALTHCARE REFORM! Hahaha Don't judge me.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INTERNSHIP, THAT IS WAY COOL!! God is so good! KJ, yes, God is watching over you, however, you have to do your part and be very careful, and please don't go anywhere by yourself so you won't get robbed and/or pisto whipped cause honey talk about your Auntie turning Argentina OUT if they mess with my baby! Okay, now that I have that out of the way, I must say you have to know Spanish pretty well to take guitar lessons in Spanish and to see a movie in Spanish, I'm very impressed. Sounds like you really are enjoying yourself and that makes me smile. Guess I'll sign off for now, talk with you next week, love you!
ReplyDeleteKJ I'm glad God is keeping you! Know that I'm praying for you also. Now I have to pray even more with this new found knowledge.
ReplyDeleteBeing away and all I'm sure will cause you to grow, mature and take your trust in God to another level.
As always your blog is "AWESOME"! The pics are fantastic. Congrats on the intership and guitar lessons you are coming right along.
Stay safe and use your God given wisdom.
Love ya much,
Mom
KJ I am very glad you are getting some rest. I love the pictures of you, I said to myself look at my handsome grandson. I know you can move fast, but stay off those train tracks taking pictures.
ReplyDeleteGrandson don't over extend yourself with the internship, guitar lessons, your studies etc.
Please do not travel alone if at all possible. Always watch as well as pray. God has His mighty hands of protection all around you and you are covered by His blood. You keep me praying for you and I will never stop.
I'm very, very proud of you and I miss you.
LOVE,
Nana
LMBO. . . thats all I have to say

Wussup SON!! Wussup, Wussup, Wussup Joe?
ReplyDeleteThat's my new urban venacular. Now I can blog and be cool too! It's a whole new world Joe.
I'm like Keeta, LMBO... that's all i have to say.
Hold up, I'll be back.
Ok, I'm back. I had to get the BsAs effect. I turned on a heater, shined a light on myself while I'm typing, put on some Spanish music and put my "feet in the water." Beinvenido a los pies en el agua. Si Si Si muy caliente!
ReplyDeleteOkay Question, can you see Russia from the house? Lol! Sarh, gotta....love her???
Ok I'm being serious. You know, I like to use my Phone because I don't have to capitalize the I's, it does it for me. Okay. Those pictures are great OMG!!! Absolutely impressive! Yep, Kevin did it Jr. Yeah, too much Spanish makes my head hurt too because they talk too fast! Not that I'm actually exposed to Spanish speaking people on a regular but when I do I just want to tell them to slow that tongue down before i give them a speeding ticket! I want to learn though.
Thank God for His keeping power!! Man those people don't want me to solve their crime problem because i will Beat some Argentinian ASS! Oops I apologize! I had a slight melt down. Thank God for his keeping power!!
Okay I gotta go because I need to pray!!
¡Felicitaciones! Your internship sounds great. Still, you're soOo American. English as a language is rather difficult if I do say so myself...and should not infiltrate the entire world. Spanish is much more fun and now you'll have TONS of Spanish practice. ;) On another note, ¡Que whack!??...LOL while SMH. But I must say that this blog entry has been very encouraging because in spite of the fact that all your blogs have assured me of many things that can go wrong abroad (which hopefully I'll get a chance to do), it's also highlighted a lot of the pretty awesome things that can happen too, and through it all God is right there with you all the time keeping you from harm. That's incredible! God is INCREDIBLE! :D Well, that's all I gotta say about that...until next week.
