Another week that God has kept me and provided for me. Been a bit of a tough one at times, but its all good in da hood!
This week I got a real taste of what life is like as a foreigner. If you ever need a crash course try applying for a student visa. Not the smoothest process ever, but the efficiency of the Argentine government helped to make this process a lot easier...NOT!!! They are the worst!!! They lose stuff, leave you waiting all day for a copy of apiece of paper...seriously! I waited 1 hr and 30 mins for a copy! But its all good because I am all set now. I've got my papers and I'm all good.
Also exciting news is that I had my first dream in Spanish last Friday night! YEA SON!!! Doesn't feel like I've had enough sleep to dream since then but I can't wait to see what the next dream will be like.
This weekend's trip was to San Antonio Areco, a province of Buenos Aires. It was another estancia and it was again a lot of fun. They had the absolute coolest 5 year old I've ever met in my life! He danced like crazy, road horse like he was walking, I mean out of this world. Only thing is with that level of cool already I'm afraid he'll reach the peak of his coolness around 9 then it'll be all down hill from there. Sorry kiddo. Enjoy the cool while you can.
On the way back from San Antonio was when it all went down. First there was the craziest lightning storm I've ever seen in my life. No rain, no thunder, just constant lightning. Huge, constant lighting for at least half an hour. We were in the bus at the time. Then out of nowhere BOOM!!! We hear the loudest boom on the roof of the bus like some one dropped a brick on it. We go and look out the window and see these huge hailstones falling from the sky hitting people cars on the road! It's breaking windows and caving in roofs. It was no joke!!! It caused all the traffic on the entire highway to come to a complete stand still. So you know what the good ol'e Argentines did while this was happening, blow their horns at the cars in front of them...FOREVER!!! As if car destroying hail stones weren't bad enough, we also had to listen to the dreadful horns all blasted night! Just lovely. Truly an awakening to just how little control of anything we have of anything.
Speaking of control, I had a doctor's visit today because my finger is twice as big as it normally is. I'm not too sure exactly what happened but whatever happened, it happened like crazy because my left pointer is HUNOURMOUS!!! I thought it was a bite but the doctor didn't think so. He also didn't think it is an infection so I'm not too sure what to think. But apparently soaking it in salt water will do the trick. Gotta love modern medicine. He also gave me a prescription for some medicine, but I'm not too hot on taking medicine and especially not in a foreign country. But its all good. We'll see how it goes.
Also next week is midterms already! This is too intense for words. Hey Auntie Ria!!! Thanks for checking me out and praying for me. Now we gotta get Uncle Paul and Angie. ;) Love ya mucho!
Til next time folks. Pops, look what you did. Got the whole Valentine clan on here. I knew you could do it ;)
Hey KJ glad to see you back on the blog. I declare the pics get better and better every week.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with your finger??? Hope it gets better soon. Could it be diet related? Anyway still praying for ya.
I know you will ace your mid-terms. Can't wait to hear about it. Who is the photographer? Is he someone in your host familia? He takes some great shots and of course you do too.
Glad you are all squared away with your passport.
Keep up the great work! Gods peace and many blessings to you.
love ya,
Mom
Hey son I meant to ask.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on with that cart full of stuff? Did you go shopping?? LOL
Like you and Nana always say "Kevin Can Do It" and he did! Sounds like you had a very eventful week! A swollen finger, lightning, a hail storm, honking horns, and applying for a student visa, WOW! But God bought you through it all and He'll get you through those midterms as well! Of course you know your big cousin Shacana has been taking midterms and I'll be so happy when she's done, it feels like I'm in school with her! Me and Adrienne hung out over the weekend, we went to see the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" it was pretty good. Afterwards we hung out at the mall and had a good time, you see I had to keep her entertained while her mother studied for her exams. Okay time to hit the books! Auntie loves you!
ReplyDeleteGood evening grandson,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are very, very nice and I too would like to know who the photograper is. The pictures make me feel like I am there with you they capture you and the area you are in when they are taken. You didn't elaborate on each picture and I miss that, especially the one with you, the shopping cart and the little boy. Is that part of your Intern? When I growup, my weekends are going to be very eventful just like yours LOL. It is rainning here but no lightning and hail storms thank God. Dad and I were at Keeta's last night. I know this weekend you will start studying for your mid-terms and as usual you will continue to do well. I have church this evening and I'm going to see the play "Joseph" tomorrow.
Love you, Nana
Hey K.J. I really enjoy your blog. It's alot going over there isn't it, I mean passport issues, ligtning & hail storms "But God" always watching over you "Praise God" Thank you Lord for keeping K.J. safe. Sweetie please take care of that finger, i wonder could it be a bite from some sort of bug, i hope it's getting better. You have the best pictures I can tell people I've been to Argentina by way of my nephew lol... You must explain the picture with you, the cart & the little person you were helping, that's the funniest picture to me. Now as for your mid-terms I have no doubt that you will do good and get good grades. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next blog, stay safe and enjoy the rest of the week :}
ReplyDeleteHello Kevin Jr.,
ReplyDeleteLove the pics and the stories of your weekend are interesting and amusing as usual. I know that you are going to knock those exams out the box, like always. I have one more next week and I can't wait for it to be over!!!! Summer break can't come fast enough for me! It's a few more days until the big day before some dude turns into an old man, I wonder who that is. Do me a favor and find out who is going to be an OLD MAN soon;-). Peace, Love, and fun in Argentina!
Hey Son, wussup?!
ReplyDeleteI see you have another grocery cart pic. First it was big ole you with a lil ole cart now it's big ole you helping the lil ole homeless midget with his big ole cart! That's some funny stuff! Go back and trouble shoot or think back on what you have been doing differently that would cause your finger to swell. The only thing that I heard you say was the guitar lessons and I'm sure it's not that but think about what's different. It might have come from you pointing at the lil ole midget and laughing at him struggle with his big ole cart before you decided to help.
Mid-terms huh? Handle your business. If you are dreaming in espanol then your brain is used to functioning in another language which is an indication that you'll be able to meet the tasks head on and be successful. It seems to be a subliminal confidence booster.
Wow the storm! Maybe the wonderful people were blowing their horns at the storm and trying to get it to move out of the way since they knew they couldn't go anywhere. LOL! I bet you didn't think about it that way. Well when in BsAs, do as the Argentinians. Did you ask the bus driver to blow his horn too? That was important! Oh well there's a missed oportunity.
The bus rides are always an adventure too!
Well tomorrow is the day that my mini-me celebrates a milestone in life! How appropriate to be out on your own doing you, and possibly wanting to be with family but mature enough to understand that as real MEN we have to stand strong with our heads up, and know that sometimes at pivitol times in our lives we have stand alone and still know that we are never alone! Son you are so in the will of God that to be somewhere else right now would have you in an alternate plan instead of in The Plan. Celebrate your birthday knowing Mr Valentine that you are not the averageman from the inner city and I happier that the Clump family in an all you can eat buffet that you are not average!
By the way, that other thing you mentioned is another example of a man making clear, intelligent, and well planned decisions. You have it together! Stay focussed, stay strong, stay humble, stay with God and continue to aggressively pursue all that life has to offer and discover! Don't stop at what's offered, but know there is much more prosperity in what you discover.
I know it was long, so what! LOL! You know how I do and now your friends have an idea because family already knows.
I will make sure we celebrate both your birthday and Keeta's birthday after you get home. Yeah ima do you guys like y'all did me have some random people singing happy birthday when it's nowhere near your birthday! LOL!
Darn it! I'm supposed to be in court! Ttyl!
Love you son.
Hey Sonny Son,
ReplyDelete2morrow is the BIG day!~ What's your plan besides test, test and more test?

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Young Man;
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy, Birthday enjoy this day that the Lord has made possible for you to see and don't do anything that your father wouldn't do LOL.
I forgot to ask you about your finger. Your father gave a very positive message to you and he sounds like you when you get serious and professional or should I say you sound like him? Have a very Blessed Day.
